Where journeys from Sector 3 actually end

Sector 3 has a great deal of housing and few large hospitals. In practice that means most of the journeys we run here start in the sector and finish in another one: at Floreasca or Elias in Sector 1, on the Fundeni campus in Sector 2, at Sf. Ioan or Bagdasar-Arseni in Sector 4, at the University Hospital in Sector 5.

The starting rate stays the same, 250 lei, whatever the destination sector. What changes is the route, so it is worth saying from the start where the journey has to end, not only where it begins.

Neighbourhoods and arteries

Sector 3 starts in the centre, at Piața Universității and the northern half of Bulevardul Unirii, and stretches east through Dudești, Vitan and Dristor as far as Titan and Balta Albă. It is a sector of large housing estates with long internal alleys.

  • Bulevardul Unirii
  • Șoseaua Mihai Bravu
  • Calea Vitan
  • Calea Dudești
  • Bulevardul Camil Ressu
  • Bulevardul Nicolae Grigorescu
  • Strada Baba Novac

What slows access down in Sector 3

The Dristor junction is the busiest point in the sector at peak hours, with queues towards Vitan and towards Piața Sudului. Sector 3 town hall has officially identified the junctions of Șoseaua Mihai Bravu with Calea Vitan, with Calea Dudești and with Strada Baba Novac as the three most blocked junctions in the sector, which is why it proposed an underpass along that stretch.

In Titan and Balta Albă the distance from the road to the entrance can be several hundred metres along internal alleys. Give the block number and the entrance, not just the street, and tell us whether the alley is clear for an ambulance.

  • Block number, entrance, floor and flat.
  • Whether the alley between blocks is clear or blocked by cars.
  • Whether the building has a lift and whether it takes a stretcher.
  • The exact destination address, with the sector and the ward.
  • A phone number answered by somebody present at the address.

Which hospitals are in Sector 3?

Sector 3 has few large units. The main landmark is Spitalul Clinic Colțea, at Bd. I.C. Brătianu nr. 1, next to Piața Universității, and among private units, Delta Hospital, at Str. Răcari nr. 6A. Most journeys from the sector have a destination in a different sector of Bucharest.
