Why minutes matter

Minutes don't come back

In a heart attack or a stroke, every minute without treatment is tissue lost for good. That is why we do not sell 'fast response' as a slogan. We send a crew that leaves the moment you hang up.

How it works

Three steps

1

You call

Tell us the pick-up address, the destination, the patient's condition and whether they can move unaided. Takes a minute.

2

We confirm

We tell you on the spot which crew is right, the arrival time and the final price. No estimates that change along the way.

3

We set off

We collect the patient from their bed, monitor them en route and hand them over to medical staff on arrival.

Patients

What people say

Reviews received directly from patients and their families.

I called at 6am for my father, who needed moving from one hospital to another. They came within 20 minutes and took him from the ward, not the entrance. That matters enormously when someone can't get up.
Ana Mariahospital transfer, Sector 3
The price quoted on the phone was the price we paid at the end. After previous experiences, that felt genuinely rare.
Ionelscheduled transport, Otopeni
The paramedic stayed with my mother the whole way, checked her blood pressure and talked to her so she wouldn't panic. That's not on any price list, but you feel it.
Mariadischarge, Fundeni Hospital
We hired them for a sports event with 800 participants. They came with all the paperwork in order and handled two incidents without the crowd ever noticing.

FAQ

What people ask us

How do I call a private ambulance in Bucharest?

You call the Safe Life Med dispatch on 0735 347 600, answered around the clock, and give the pick-up address, the destination and the patient's condition. On the call we confirm the right crew, the arrival time and the final price, and then the crew sets off. For scheduled transport we agree the exact pick-up time up front.

How quickly does a private ambulance arrive in Bucharest?

For an urgent request in Bucharest the crew sets off immediately after the call is confirmed, and arrival usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the district and the traffic. For scheduled transport we agree the exact time together and the crew arrives at the agreed hour.

How much does a private ambulance cost in Bucharest?

A private ambulance transport starts from 250 lei in Bucharest and from 350 lei in Ilfov, while trips elsewhere in the country are charged per kilometre, from 4.5 lei/km. We give you the final price on the phone, before the crew sets off, and it does not change on arrival. Payment is by card or cash, with a receipt.

Do you cover Ilfov as well?

Yes, Ilfov is part of our rapid-response area alongside every district of Bucharest, and a transport in Ilfov starts from 350 lei. Elsewhere in the country we run scheduled trips charged per kilometre, and across the European Union we handle transfers and repatriations.

Do you operate around the clock, at night and on holidays?

Yes, the dispatch answers 24 hours a day, every day of the year, including nights, weekends, Christmas and Easter. There are no days on which the service is closed.

Do you transport patients from home for dialysis or oncology?

Yes, we take patients from home to hospital and back for dialysis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or rehabilitation sessions, at fixed times arranged in advance. Pick-up is from the bed, with a stretcher or transport chair, and a companion can travel with the patient at no extra cost.

Do you collect the patient from the flat, upstairs?

Yes, we collect the patient from their home, straight from the bed, including upper floors or buildings without a lift, because we bring both a stretcher and a transport chair. Tell us in advance if the stairs are narrow, so we can send a large enough crew.

Can a family member ride in the ambulance?

Yes, a companion can travel alongside the patient at no extra cost, as long as they do not block the crew's access to the patient.

Do you repatriate patients from abroad?

Yes, we arrange repatriations and patient transfers between Romania and clinics across the European Union, with a medical crew for the whole journey. We handle the route, the paperwork and the medical escort, and we work directly with the health insurers covering repatriation. The quote is built per route, on request.

Do you work with health insurers?

The service is private and is paid for directly by the patient or their family, by card or in cash. We issue an invoice and a receipt, and for international transfers we work directly with the health insurers covering repatriation.

What paperwork do I get after the transport?

After every trip you receive the transport record completed by the crew, an invoice and a receipt, plus an incident report in the case of event cover. The documents are handed over at the end of the trip, without you having to ask for them.

What is the difference between a private ambulance and 112?

112 is the public emergency service and remains the first option whenever the patient's life is in immediate danger. A private ambulance covers assisted medical transport, scheduled transfers between hospitals, discharges, event cover and home care, the situations the state ambulance service is not allocated to or where waiting times are long.
