If the patient's life is in danger, call 112

Safe Life Med is a private medical transport and assistance service. It does not replace the National Emergency Service. For cardiac arrest, loss of consciousness, massive haemorrhage or a serious accident, always call 112 first.

Journeys to treatment, at a fixed hour

A treatment session has an arrival time that cannot be negotiated, and the return depends on how long it runs. So we book the outward leg for an exact hour and keep the return flexible: you call when the patient is ready, or we fix the hour from the start if you already know it.

If treatment runs in cycles, you can book every journey in a single call on 0735 347 600.

What to tell us when booking

  • The hospital or clinic, the ward and the arrival time.
  • The floor at home and whether the building has a lift.
  • Whether the patient walks unaided, needs a chair or can only travel on a stretcher.
  • Whether there is a central venous catheter or a port, so the crew avoids that area during the transfer.
  • Whether immunity is low and contact on the way should be limited.
  • Whether oxygen is needed during transport.

Discharges, admissions and hospital transfers

We also handle moves between medical units when treatment continues elsewhere. We notify the receiving unit before we arrive, so the patient is taken in directly, and we hand over a completed transport sheet.

Discharges can be booked the day before or arranged the same day, depending on when the discharge note is signed.

Frequently asked questions

How much does transport for a cancer patient to chemotherapy cost?

In Bucharest rates start at 250 lei per journey, in Ilfov at 350 lei. For a same-day return and for a series of sessions, the price is calculated on the route and confirmed on the phone, on 0735 347 600, before departure.

Can you take the patient to a radiotherapy clinic in another Bucharest sector?

Yes, we cover the whole of Bucharest whatever the sector, and Ilfov. Give the exact address of the clinic and the ward, so the hand-over happens where the patient is expected.

Do you transport a patient in an advanced stage home from hospital?

Yes. We collect the patient from the bed on the ward and hand them over at the bed at home, with a companion in the ambulance. Tell us when booking whether oxygen is needed on the way and whether a crew with a doctor is required; the dispatcher confirms availability and price in the same call.

Can a doctor travel in the ambulance for a cancer patient?

Yes, on request. Ask for a crew with a doctor on 0735 347 600 and the dispatcher confirms in the call whether one is available for the hour you need and what it costs. We do not confirm a journey with a doctor that we cannot cover.

Do you travel to other cities for cancer treatment?

Yes. We run nationwide journeys by arrangement, charged per kilometre from 4.5 lei per kilometre, return journey. Bucharest and Ilfov are covered around the clock, and by arrangement we also travel to Prahova, Giurgiu, Dâmbovița, Ialomița and Călărași.

What paperwork do I get at the end?

The transport sheet, the intervention report, the invoice and the receipt. Payment is by card or cash, and the price quoted on the phone does not change at the destination.
