Hospitals and clinics in Sector 1

Sector 1 holds several of the largest emergency units in Bucharest, so many journeys end here even when the patient is collected from another sector. The list below is a reference for the destination you give us. We are not affiliated with these units.

Give us the ward on the phone, not just the hospital name. At the large units, the entrance for planned transport is not the same as the emergency-department entrance, and hand-over is faster when we know exactly where the patient is expected.

Neighbourhoods and arteries

Sector 1 starts in the centre, at Calea Victoriei and Piața Victoriei, and runs north to Băneasa. It has two completely different access profiles. Aviatorilor, Primăverii and Dorobanți are mostly houses with yards, where the vehicle usually reaches the front door. Grivița, Bucureștii Noi, Dămăroaia and Pajura are mostly blocks of flats, where the entrance, the floor, the lift and the width of the alley between blocks all matter.

  • Calea Victoriei
  • Șoseaua Kiseleff
  • Bulevardul Aviatorilor
  • Piața Victoriei
  • Șoseaua București-Ploiești, towards Băneasa
  • Bulevardul Ion Mihalache
  • Calea Griviței

What slows access down in Sector 1

Piața Victoriei and Piața Romană, on the boundary with Sector 2, are among the most congested junctions in the city at peak hours. To the north, Șoseaua București-Ploiești, towards Băneasa and the airport, often jams at the end of the working day and at weekends.

In the villa districts the problem is not traffic but one-way streets and cars parked on both sides of narrow roads. In Bucureștii Noi and Pajura the alleys between blocks are tight, and an ambulance does not always reach the entrance.

  • The full address, with building, entrance, floor and flat.
  • Whether the building has a lift and whether it takes a stretcher.
  • The intercom or gate code, for houses and gated compounds.
  • Whether the vehicle can reach the entrance or has to stop on the boulevard.
  • The destination hospital and ward.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a private ambulance cost in Sector 1?

Transport within Bucharest starts at 250 lei, with pick-up from the bed and one companion included. The final price is agreed on the phone, on 0735 347 600, according to distance, crew and the equipment required, and does not change at the destination.

Do you take patients to Floreasca or Elias hospital?

Yes. Spitalul Clinic de Urgență București is at Calea Floreasca nr. 8 and Spitalul Universitar de Urgență Elias at Bd. Mărăști nr. 17, both in Sector 1. Tell us the ward when booking. For an emergency where life is in danger, the call is still 112.

Do you come out to Băneasa and to areas with houses and gates?

Yes. For an address with a gate or a barrier, give the gate number or access code on the first call, plus a phone answered by somebody present at the address. That way the crew loses no time at the entrance.

Do you transport from a block with no lift, in Grivița or Bucureștii Noi?

Yes. The patient comes down on a scoop stretcher or a transport chair, with two crew members. Tell us the floor and whether there is a lift when you call, so the crew arrives with equipment that fits the staircase.

Can you take a patient from Sector 1 to a hospital in another sector?

Yes, we cover the whole of Bucharest at the same 250 lei starting rate whatever the destination sector: the Fundeni campus in Sector 2, Bagdasar-Arseni or Sf. Ioan in Sector 4, the University Hospital in Sector 5.

Do you cover Sector 1 around the clock?

Yes. Dispatch answers at any hour on 0735 347 600, including at night, at weekends and on public holidays, and the final price is given in the same call.
